Companion Animal Advocates is committed to volunteerism and we would love to have you join us!

Fill out our Volunteer Application or our Junior Volunteer Application (for anyone younger than 18 years of age) and return it to us by mail at our main address or by e-mail to Patty@CompanionAnimalAdvocates.org. It is our goal to match each volunteer with an opportunity that they are both excited about and have the skills and talents to make their own. Please feel free to contact us with any and all volunteer ideas you might have.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO DONATE GOODS TO THE COMMUNITY THRIFT SHOP

    Cleaning out your closet or basement?  Feel free to bring your gently used household items, clothing, etc.  to the Community Thift Shop at 85 Godwin Ave Midland Park, NJ 07432.  (Located between Patti's Dance Studio and the Children's Daycare Center) CAA is charity #33.  Anything donated on behalf of Companion Animal Advocates will result in funding for our programs upon sale of the items.

    Shop hours are 10am-2:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday.  Recieving days are Monday and the first Saturday of each month from 10am-2:30pm.  For more information about the Community Thrift Shop call 201-652-7661.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO DRIVE DONATED PET FOOD TO PATERSON ANIMAL CONTROL

    CAA is looking for volunteers to help drive pet food to Paterson Animal Control. Volunteers would be asked to pick up already donated and consolidated pet food in Bergen and Rockland and drop it off to the Animal Control Offices in Paterson, NJ. Drop offs typically happen 9-5 Monday through Friday.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO COLLECT COUPONS FOR OPERATION FEED-A-PET

    We are supplying Purina Cat and Dog Chow to the Center for Food Action in order to provide pets with a healthy, consistent diet.  You can call Purina at 1-800-778-7462 and request two $2 coupons for Purina products (Purina will accept a coupon request once every 4-6 weeks).  Upon receipt of the coupons, please mail them to Companion Animal Advocates, P.O. Box 61, Hillsdale, NJ 07642.  These valuable coupons significantly help us further our contributions to the Feed A Pet program.

    Sign up to receive a monthly e-mail reminder to call Purina for the two $2 coupons. Send an e-mail to Coupons@CompanionAnimalAdvocates.org. Include your First and Last name, your town and state. We will add you to our coupon reminder list and send you a reminder around the middle of each month to call for coupons.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO RUN A PET FOOD DRIVE

    Are you an individual or group that is looking for an opportunity to help pet owners in need? Consider running a pet food drive. We are collecting pet food as well as clean, used blankets and towels. All items collected will be donated to the Center for Food Action of NJ or to Animal Control in Paterson, NJ to help pet owners who need a little extra help caring for their pets.

    OCTOBER 2009 - The Skyline Agility Club of Garnersville recently held a pet food drive at their agility trial in Yorktown Heights.  Arlene Spooner hatched the idea, Ruth Bryden got every one behind it and Pat Halko brought back every one of those 565 lbs of pet food.  Well done all!

    OCTOBER 2009 - Tuesday's Children in partnership with Children for Children celebrated the third annual Make a Difference Day by serving their community.  The members of Tuesday's Children as well as Children for Children collected pet food for Companion Animal Advocates.   This day of community service allowed children the opportunity to learn about ways to support all those in need including pets and their families.  Special thanks to Pawprint Market of Darien, CT for their generous donation.   For more information about Tuesday's Children and their work in supporting the families directly affected by the tragedy of 9/11, please check out www.tuesdayschildren.org.

    AUGUST 2009 - Girl Scout Ambassadors of GSNNJ's Harrington Park Troops 789 and 712, led by Elise Kim, held their SECOND pet food drive at the ShopRite Supermarket in Norwood, NJ. The girls weathered the heat and collected over 85 lbs. of pet food that was later delivered to Animal Control in Paterson NJ to help the residents of Paterson to feed their pets.

    JUNE 2009 - CAA volunteers delivered 308 lbs of food to Paterson Animal Control. Many thanks to Lisa Capotorto who organized a "Friends and Family" food drive by simply asking her family and friends to donate food. Thanks also to Gwen Baker and Jacqui Batten for their generous pet food donations.

    APRIL 2009 - Rockland Girl Scouts Troop 295 organized a pet food drive at Pet Palace in New City, NY. The girls collected 121 lbs. of pet food, as well as donations of used towels and blankets. They also raised awareness about the programs in place to help pet owners in need continue to care for their pets. Great job, girls!

    MARCH, 2009 - The Confirmation Class of Diss/Donnelly/Diorio from Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood, collected pet food and donations for CAA on behalf of the Center for Food Action in Mahwah.
